Private Postsecondary and
Vocational Education Approval
In accordance with the provisions of California Education Code 94900 mid/or 94915, this institution had received approval to operate from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. That approval to operate meant that the Bureau determined and certified that the institution met the minimum standards for integrity, financial stability, and educational quality, including the offering of bona fide instruction by qualified faculty and the appropriate assessment of students' achievement prior to, during, and at the end of its programs. Approval #: 20766. This prior approval was effective: January 1, 2008 and expiration Date was: December 31, 2010. The Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education Reform Act became inoperative July 1, 2007.

Article 2.
Transition Provisions

"94802.(a) An institution that had a valid approval to operate on June 30, 2007, issued by the former Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education pursuant to former Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 94700) of Part 59 of Division 10 of Title 3 of the Education Code, as it read on June 30, 2007, shall maintain that approval under this chapter. For the purposes of this chapter, the approval to operate shall be valid for three calendar years after the expiration date of the approval, as it read on June 30, 2007."

Resumen y aclaracion en español “Una Institución que tiene una aprobación para operar a partir del 30 de junio del 2007, según documento emitido por el Departamento (Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, BPPVE), mantendrá la misma aprobación bajo este capítulo de la Ley. De acuerdo a dicho Capítulo, la aprobación para operar tendrá validez por tres años calendarios a partir de la fecha de vencimiento, según se expresa en el documento de fecha 30 de junio del año 2007.”


(De acuerdo a la nueva Ley, La licencia de funcionamiento de Newport University tendra validez hasta el 30 de diciembre del 2013, puesto que la Licencia emitida bajo la Ley anterior tiene fecha de vencimiento el 30 de diciembre del 2010)
