THE PROGRAM:
Newport University does not require formal, on-campus residence or classroom attendance. Students may complete all course-work in their home, with the possibility that some work may require a law library. Most of our students are fully employed. Four years of law study is required by the California Committee of Bar Examiners, for those students seeking bar eligibility. The Newport University School of Law is registered with the Committee of Bar Examiners, State of California, as a correspondence law school.
Each course is divided into lessons containing reading and writing assignments, cases to brief as well as tests and examinations to be taken by the student upon completion of the lessons. Each lesson is graded by an individual who has a law degree. If the answers and/or work completed by the student are not satisfactory, they will be returned by the instructor for revision and resubmission. Completed lessons should not be discarded but should be retained for review purposes for the First Year Law Students' Examination and the General Bar Examination.
