I. PREREQUISITES:  Those applicants(s) seeking Bar eligibility in California should have successfully completed sixty (60) or more college semester units (90 quarter units) applicable to a Bachelor’s Degree with a grade point average of C (2.0) or better,  prior to admission to Newport University School of Law. Applicant(s) must request that official transcripts be sent to the admissions office at Newport University from the college(s) / University(ies) where those units were earned.

Applicants who have not completed at least two years of college work in accordance with Rule VII, Section 1 of the Rules Regulating Admission to Practice Law in California (Rule VII) may satisfy the general education requirements of Rule VII by attaining a score of 50 or higher on the following general examinations administered by the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Download CLEP Rules

Under Composition and Literature cataegory, either :

English Composition (or)
English Composition with Essay 

AND

Two (2) other examinations,each designed to correspond to full-year courses (6 semester hours each*) or four other examinations, each designed to correspond to semester courses (3 semester hours each*) that can be selected from any of the following subjects:

Composition and Literature (Humanities examination only)
Foreign Languages
History and Social Sciences
Science and Mathematics
Business

Applicants must register to take the examinations directly with CLEP and request that score reports be submitted by CLEP to the Office of Admissions of The State Bar of California. The score recipient code for the Office of Admissions is 7165.
